Are you interested in filmmaking and wondering where to study it? The Pragueshorts Festival invites you to a free meet-and-greet with representatives from Czech film and audiovisual schools, which will take place on Friday 23 October 2026 from 5.00 pm at the Hybernská Campus in Prague.

The ‘Where to Study Film’ event is aimed primarily at secondary school pupils who are considering further study in the field of film and audiovisual production. Over the course of one afternoon, it will offer the chance to learn about different approaches to film education, compare study programmes and gain practical information about the admissions process.

Schools from across the Czech Republic, offering courses in directing, screenwriting, production, cinematography, animation and other audiovisual disciplines, will be presented all in one place.

How will the afternoon unfold?

The programme will be divided into two moderated sessions, during which individual schools will present their study programmes, teaching approaches, admissions requirements and examples of student work.

Representatives of the teaching staff and students from each school will speak, offering not only official information about the courses but also personal insights into the day-to-day running of the school.

The presentations will be followed by a session for individual consultations, during which prospective students will be able to ask direct questions about preparing for talent auditions, portfolio requirements, the course of study, or career prospects for graduates.

The event offers an opportunity to gain an overview of film education options in the Czech Republic and to meet in person with people who are studying and teaching at the various schools.
