A channel slot for the forthcoming Prima sport channel has appeared on nationwide DVB-T2 multiplex 24. It is also noteworthy that the slot is technically configured for Full HD resolution.
A surprise awaited viewers on Tuesday morning who tuned in to the nationwide DVB-T2 multiplex 24. The operator of this broadcasting network, Digital Broadcasting, unexpectedly included a channel slot for the new thematic channel in its line-up. This channel slot is currently being broadcast in 1920 x 1080 px resolution, which corresponds to Full HD.
The currently static screen displays only an information message on a black background. This text notification informs viewers that a new sports channel, Prima sport, will be available on this channel slot during August. The current stream therefore does not at this time contain any standard television programmes or moving images produced by the broadcaster.
The technical allocation of this slot in advance allows users to update the channel list on their televisions and receivers in good time. The inclusion of the new channel in the nationwide Multiplex 24 means that further content will soon be available to households receiving the standard terrestrial television signal. According to as yet unofficial information, the start of broadcasting was scheduled for Monday 17 August, though this is a provisional date which may change.
It is interesting to note that the channel is being broadcast in Full HD format (1920x1080p resolution), as both Nova and Prima charge pay-TV operators for this premium format. It was precisely these companies that, in the past, put pressure on Prima not to broadcast its high-definition programmes on Českých Radiokomunikací’s multiplex 22. The only exception is CNN Prima News, which uses a resolution of 1280x720 on DVB-T2.
