Prima TV is adjusting its evening schedule to accommodate the ice hockey world championship. Films will be replaced by the series Polda and Polabí.
The Prima Group will adjust its prime-time schedule during the upcoming Ice Hockey World Championship. The changes will affect the evenings when the Czech national team faces Sweden and Canada in the group stage. TV Nova has no plans to change its schedule for this phase of the championship and will continue to show repeats of its series on the evenings in question.
The Czech team will kick off this year’s championship on Friday 15 May with a match against Denmark, which starts at 8.15 pm. They will play a total of seven matches in the group stage. From a programming perspective, the evening matches starting at 8.15 pm will be of particular significance for commercial television stations.
Due to the expected high viewer interest, Prima will adjust its schedule on Monday 18 May and Tuesday 26 May. On Monday, the Czechs will face Sweden at 8.15 pm, and a week later, at the same time, they will face Canada. Instead of the series Polda, Prima will air the film Jak básníci čekají na zázrak on 18 May from 8.15 pm. The series Polabí will then be replaced on 26 May, also from 8.15 pm, by the film Ďáblovo regalo, said the channel’s spokesperson Blanka Bumbálková in response to a query from MediaGuru.cz. “We at Prima are also supporting the Czech ice hockey team, which is why we have adjusted the schedule so that viewers can enjoy the ice hockey atmosphere to the full without missing out on the latest episodes of their favourite series, Polda and Polabí,” she explained.
Nova has no plans to change its schedule on the main ice hockey evenings. On Monday 18 May, it will air a repeat of the series Specialisté, which replaces the recently concluded series Odznak Vysočina, and on Tuesday 26 May, it will broadcast a repeat of the series Policie Modrava.
The Czech national team will play seven matches in the championship’s group stage. In addition to the evening matches against Denmark, Sweden and Canada, they will also face Slovenia, Italy, Slovakia and Norway. Further changes to the schedules of the main commercial TV channels may occur in connection with the knockout matches in the final stages of the ice hockey championship.
