FOREIGN NEWS NEWS SHORT READ

CNN PRIMA NEWS WILL BROADCAST THE CORONATION FROM MONDAY, NOVA WILL DEVOTE THE WHOLE SATURDAY TO IT

27. 4. 2023
The coronation of the new British king Charles III. is approaching and the commercial TV stations in the Czech Republic are getting ready for it. CNN Prima News will offer special broadcasts from 1st May, sending a trio of reporters to London. Nova will also have its crew in the british capital, and is planning a special broadcast on Saturday 6th May right from the morning hours.

CNN Prima NEWS will start its extensive week-long special broadcast with Monday’s Nový den (New Day). A trio of reporters - Anna Kadavá, Patrik Kaizr and Daniel Konewka - plus contributor Theresa Hepburn will describe the atmosphere live from the scene. But CNN International reporters will also join the broadcast.

"We have prepared a special broadcast of extraordinary scope on CNN Prima NEWS, which will involve dozens of our people and colleagues from CNN International. We will cover all the major events before, during and after the coronation. We'll put viewers right in the middle of the action, among ordinary Britons, and thanks to augmented reality, we'll show up close and in detail what otherwise remains hidden from the public eye," promised Pavel Štrunc, CNN Prima NEWS Editor-in-Chief.

Saturday's coronation day will be guided by Terezie Tománková from morning hours until 11:00. "This is an event that the whole world will be watching. And it is an honour for me to be there for the viewers of CNN Prima NEWS," said Tománková.

The coronation itself and everything around it from 11:00 a.m. until Prime Time News will be hosted by Markéta Fialová and Karel Voříšek.

"Markéta and I have already hosted a few special broadcasts, although, sadly, we have so far been specialists mainly in last farewells (Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II), so the coronation is a welcome change. Our seven hours of continuous broadcasting without commercials is a big challenge, but we have a skilful news team working on the preparations and we will certainly leave nothing to chance," added Voříšek.
"It will be an exclusive show. I look forward to the company of Karel in the studio and King Charles III. in Britain,”

Fialová added.

The live broadcast of the coronation itself will be conducted by Miroslav Sklenář, former director of protocol at the Office of the President of the Republic, Cyril Svoboda, former foreign minister, Hynek Fajmon, historian, and Barbora Koukalová, deputy editor-in-chief of Expres.cz.

Prima will broadcast this event from the morning until late afternoon without commercials.

The presenters and their guests will be complemented by analyses of interesting facts from behind the scenes of the royal family and other attractive data, which will be conveyed by the head of the foreign editorial department Matyáš Zrno and presenter Karolina Hošek.

And thanks to modern augmented reality (AR) technology, the viewers of CNN Prima NEWS will see in detail right in the studio, for example, how much the Crown Jewels cost or weigh, or how many diamonds are on them, or what all is hidden in the golden royal carriage. There will also be a detailed 3D map of the royal carriage's journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey and back.

NOVA SENDS A CREW TO LONDON

TV Nova, which will have a crew in London, will begin broadcasting for the coronation on Saturday 6 May just five minutes before 8 am with a special Víkendová Snídaně (Weekend Breakfast) with Dana Morávková and Jan Čensky. Themed blocks dedicated to the best of the British monarchy will be interspersed with informative inputs and visits from interesting guests.

At 11:00 am, the news studio will be filled by the presenting duo of Veronika Petruchová and Martin Čermák, who will be in charge of news coverage throughout the day. Michaela Indráková and Michal Kratochvíl will provide live commentary on the ceremony itself.

"We have been preparing for the coronation for many weeks. In addition to the special morning broadcast, we are also planning intensive news coverage in the form of a live commentary, where viewers will learn not only details from the life of the British royal family, but also the significance of the individual steps of the ceremony, as well as expert insights and other interesting facts," described Kamil Houska, director of news at Nova.
"The British Royal Family is still a very attractive topic for us, we like to follow the stories of kings and queens, princes and princesses, we perceive a strong tradition, but also scandals and novelties,”

added Michal Kratochvíl, editor-in-chief of TV Nova news and commentator of the live broadcast.

"The royal wedding of Harry and Meghan has captivated hundreds of millions of people around the planet and we believe that the coronation of Charles III. will have a similar, if not greater, response, as it will be the first time in 70 years," Kratochvíl added.
