The HbbTV Association has opened entries for the HbbTV Awards 2026, which will be held as part of the 14th HbbTV Symposium and Awards in Barcelona.
The event will take place on November 18-19 at the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza Hotel and will be jointly hosted by the HbbTV Association and 3Cat, Catalonia’s public media corporation. The awards ceremony will be held on the evening of November 18.
The awards, now in their ninth edition, recognise HbbTV applications, services, technologies and solutions across the connected TV ecosystem.
For 2026, the HbbTV Association has updated the categories to reflect changes in the market. A new Excellence in HbbTV Audience Measurement & Analytics category has been introduced, reflecting the growing use of HbbTV for audience insights, measurement and analytics.
The other categories are Outstanding HbbTV Advertising Campaign, HbbTV Application Innovation Award, HbbTV Enabling Technology Award and HbbTV Rising Star Award. The Rising Star category replaces the former Newcomer of the Year judges’ award and is now open for direct or third-party nominations.
Companies may enter multiple submissions in up to two categories. Entries will be judged by industry experts on criteria including innovation, technical excellence, execution, impact and contribution to the HbbTV ecosystem.
Vincent Grivet, Chair of the HbbTV Association, said: “The updated categories reflect the evolution of the market, including the growing importance of audience measurement, advanced advertising, innovative applications and the technologies enabling new services.”
The closing date for entries is September 18, 2026. Last year’s winners in Istanbul included 3Cat, TVekstra, Everyone TV and BCi Digital.
