Live television coverage of this year’s World Cup will be shared between Czech Television, as a public service broadcaster, and the Nova group. ČT has previously stated that it has sold part of the broadcasting rights for the tournament to its commercial competitors.
Of the total of 104 matches to be played in Mexico, the USA and Canada from 11 June to 19 July 2026, Nova will broadcast 56 live matches on its channels, whilst ČT sport will broadcast 54 matches.
Nova’s main channel for the broadcasts will be Nova Action, whilst the main TV Nova channel will broadcast four matches (three in the group stage and one round of 16 match). For ČT, ČT sport is the main channel for football broadcasts. All matches, i.e. those broadcast on Nova and ČT, will then be available to watch on the Oneplay platform.
The opening match on Thursday 11 June, all the Czech team’s matches (12 June, 18 June and 25 June), the third-place play-off and the final will be shown on both the ČT and Nova channels. All the others will be on one or the other.
For European viewers and football fans, the most interesting matches – apart from those involving their own national teams – will be those scheduled for the late afternoon or evening in Central European Time. These include, for example, the opening match on 11 June between Mexico and South Africa, as well as some knockout matches and the final. An intriguing group stage clash will take place on 17 June between England and Croatia at 22:00, on 20 June at 7.00 pm between the Netherlands and Sweden, and on 26 June between Norway and France at 9.00 pm. However, many matches are scheduled for late at night.
The Czech team’s group stage matches will take place on 12 June at 4:00 am (South Korea v Czech Republic), 18 June at 18:00 (Czech Republic v South Africa) and 25 June at 03:00 (Czech Republic v Mexico).
