LABUBU, DUBAI CHOCOLATE OR SIX SEVEN. WHAT POPULAR TRENDS DID THE PAST YEAR BRING?

27. 12. 202527. 12. 2025
As 2025 draws to a close, new trends have sprung up everywhere. You’ll find Labubu soft toys in almost every toy shop, whilst sports enthusiasts have taken a fancy to Stanley mugs. And those with a sweet tooth have fallen in love with Dubai chocolate, for example.

Dubai chocolate. A phenomenon that has even shaken up the prices of pistachios. Just over a year ago, it was only available at certain times, only in Dubai and only via an app. But right at the start of 2025, it made a big splash here too. Even chef Zdeněk Pohlreich has taken inspiration from it. “It’s the sort of thing that can delight absolutely everyone,” he commented. And we’ll stay with treats for a moment longer, as another trend of 2025 is that young people are giving up alcohol. Instead, they prefer non-alcoholic drinks, such as Japanese matcha tea.

If you haven’t tasted it, you haven’t lived. And so, all over the world, businesses focusing solely on this green powder are springing up, the Czech Republic being no exception. Another trend is Labubu soft toys. They’ve been around for a few years, are said to originate from China, and this year they’ve really taken off. There’s also a Lafufu knock-off, though.

Older generations, meanwhile, often struggle to understand the ‘six seven’ phenomenon. This youth slang term, meaning something like ‘maybe yes, maybe no’, has also taken hold in our schools. ‘For example, when a teacher says: “Write down the number 1234567”, everyone writes “six seven”’, said one of the pupils interviewed.
