How are Valentine's Day preparations really going in Czechia? Google search data from February this year painted a picture of what Czechs really want for the holiday of love. AI assistants are helping more and more people with last-minute planning of the evening, menu and ideas.

The absolute winner of this year's Valentine's Day preparations is the keyword "films for Valentine's Day". The trend is clear: an evening spent watching a film wins out over visits to crowded establishments. Close behind are searches for "things for Valentine's Day at home", but also creative activities for the whole family, such as drawing pictures by hand. However, this does not mean that traditional dates have completely disappeared.

If Czechs decide to go out, their goal this year is water and relaxation. The top five activities include "Prague Valentine's Day boat cruise", followed by wellness stays and couples' massages.

The terms "Valentine's Day socks" and "Valentine's Day boxer shorts" are among the most searched items at the beginning of the Valentine's Day season. It seems that in 2026, for many couples, the pinnacle of caring for their partner is ensuring warmth and comfort. However, the traditional approach is still going strong – high demand for flowers such as roses suggests that Czech couples still favour the classics.

Gastronomic surprise: Chicken paprika instead of oysters

Perhaps the most curious aspect of this year's statistics is the area of gastronomy. Chocolate and wine remain staples, but home baking, specifically Valentine's gingerbread and cakes, is making a big comeback. However, the tenth most searched recipe was an unexpected success: "paprika sauce for Valentine's Day". While global trends often favour aphrodisiacs such as oysters, Czechs are playing it safe and sticking to honest home cooking.
