Total time spent with content on the Nova Group's channels, which includes SVOD service Voyo, is increasing, says Didier Stoessel.

The Voyo video platform is on track to reach its goal of gaining the projected one million subscribers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia by 2025. Didier Stoessel, CEO of CME, owner of the Nova group, said this at a meeting with journalists on Thursday.

According to Stoessel, local SVOD service Voyo has established itself on the domestic market thanks to its quality content and extensive investment in its creation. This year alone, 70 new titles are in production, almost quadrupling compared to last year. "We see that content consumption in aggregate on linear and non-linear channels is growing compared to previous years. People are using different channels - IPTV, AVOD, SVOD, but consumption as a whole is growing. And it's similar in other markets," Stoessel described.

Moreover, the CME boss expects SVOD to continue to grow and double its market share in the Czech Republic within four years. The model for Voyo is the Scandinavian service Viaplay, which, according to Stoessel, is also successful thanks to its high-quality local content. This is necessary especially in competition with international players such as Netflix, HBO or Disney, added Dušan Švalek, deputy CEO of CME.

Voyo accounts for less than a fifth of TV Nova's total viewership, according to Nova Group data. Linear TV channels account for two-thirds of the total viewership. Nova also reckoned, based on the number of hours watched on Voyo, that Voyo would rank fourth in share of time spent, behind traditional TV channels Nova, CT1 and Prima, and just ahead of Nova Cinema, whose market share is around 5%. "Both Nova and Voyo are going up, and Voyo is not cannibalising TV Nova," Stossel said. TV Nova's share of all-day viewership in the 15-54 group is 33.5% this year, up from 32.5% last year, Didier Stoessel further documented.

According to the spontaneous knowledge research available to Nova, Voyo is the second most popular SVOD service in the Czech Republic behind Netflix. CME data and forecasts
