Pay video platform Voyo registers more than 400 thousand subscribers, according to the official announcement of the Nova TV group.

Pay video platform Voyo registers more than 400 thousand subscribers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, according to the official announcement of the Nova TV Group. On average, the subscribers spend more than 12 hours per week on Voyo. It is the first time Nova has published data on the number of subscribers. Its goal is to reach one million subscribers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia by 2026.

Nova stated that the milestone was achieved thanks to the exclusive content, original internally-produced projects Voyo Originál for which the best contemporary filmmakers were invited, the offer of Czech films, and live broadcasts of Nova Sport 1 and Nova Sport 2.
“The speed at which we manage to achieve our ambitious goals proves that our bet on premium local content combined with the most diverse offer of Czech films and top acquisition titles was the right choice,”

says Programming Director of TV Nova and Voyo, Silvia Majeská.

Historically the first miniseries under the Voyo Originál brand was Případ Roubal directed by Tereza Kopáčová. The series received two nominations for the Czech Lion. It was followed by the series Guru, the comedy series Národní házená, Iveta or Jitřní záře, which has recently won the best series award at the 54th Ota Hofmann Children’s Film and Television Festival in Ostrov. “Viewers seem to understand our intention. They seem to find what we offer. I do not want to sound immodest but if they knew what we are filming for them these days they would be excited,” sad TV Nova’s and Voyo’s Head of Development, Michal Reitler.

Next year, Voyo will offer the second season of miniseries Iveta or the action thriller Extraktoři, which is being shot on location in Turkey. The comedy series Sex O’Clock is being completed in Zlín. This year, Voyo will launch the comedy series Gumy with Richard Krajčo a David Švehlík starring and the miniseries Král Šumavy: Fantom temného kraje.

“Voyo wants to have its position next to the biggest players on the market as the strongest local service that offers users the largest number of Czech films and series. It is a global trend that households subscribe to multiple SVOD services. We expect that in 2025, there will be three of them on average. Voyo wants to be one of them. We are within sight of that goal,”

concludes Daniel Grunt, Chief Digital Officer of CME.
