TV NOVA AND TV PRIMA DEPLOY STREAMING SERIES IN TERRESTRIAL BROADCASTING

11. 3. 2024
As expected - TV Nova and rival Prima's series, which were primarily produced "exclusively" for SVOD platforms, will eventually appear in terrestrial broadcasting. The big stations are thus spreading the costs of production and inflating viewership numbers.

From the end of March, Nova Television will air two series of Iveta, originally intended for and deployed on the Voyo.cz streaming platform. The series, charting two decades in the life and career of one of the most famous domestic pop singers Iveta Bartošová, will air from 31 March to 5 May. For Nova, the move will not only allow it to spread the cost of Iveta, but will play the role of a de facto marketing promotion for the launch of the third series of the series. This will appear in May, again "exclusively on Voyo".

TV Prima is not lagging behind either. Some time ago, it launched the eight-part series Vytoč mého agenta on its streaming platform prima+, which is the Czech version of the Netflix series Call My Agent. Now, the series is also coming to TV screens. Prima will air it on Sunday, March 24 in prime time. It is a "comedy story from a casting agency", with a famous Czech actor or actress playing himself/herself in each episode. The script of the Czech version was written by Alice Nellis, Martina Kinská, Tomáš Hodan, directed by Michal Blaško and Jakub Machala.

Nova has previously used this tactic (i.e. first SVOD, then terestrika) for the series CPřípady mimořádné Marty and O mě se se neboj. Prima did the same last year with the relationship-police series Pod povrchem (SVOD in May 2023, terrestrial broadcast from August 2023).
