This year, World News Media Day will take place on 28 September 2025 under the theme "Credible media is key. Support journalism. Support the facts. Support the truth".
The aim of World News Media Day is to remind the general public and decision-makers of the importance of quality, professional and trustworthy media to society. According to the Czech Union of Publishers, this year's day responds to the latest technological trends in artificial intelligence affecting the media and highlights the importance of media and journalism that relies on the work of real live journalists.
According to the union, it is this journalism that produces high-value content that plays a key informational role in an era full of misinformation and not always high-quality content generated largely by artificial intelligence.
The organisers of World News Media Day called on all publishers and titles to remind their media outlets of the importance of quality media and the journalism that produces it. Publishers can contribute to supporting the event either through their own contributions or by publishing materials provided by the event organizers.
Materials include advertisements, banners or videos and other social media content. Interested parties can access them by registering on the website.
The event is supported by the World Association of Newspaper Publishers, WAN-IFRA and many other international, regional or national associations of publishers or journalists. Along with them, individual publishers or titles, including the Czech Union of Publishers.
