BERNARD, ROHLÍK OR BOUČEK, KOTEK AND PRACHAŘ HAVE THEIR APRIL FOOLS’ JOKES

1. 4. 20261. 4. 2026
Onthe first day of April, some companies have once again come up with special pranks. This year, for example, they’re promoting beer with gherkin brine, parking combat boots and testicle ointment.

Some companies still uphold the tradition of April Fools’ Day pranks on 1 April. However, it’s not just individuals who try to trick one another; companies do so in their communications too. That is why, on this day more than any other, it is wise to be cautious about corporate announcements in press releases or on social media.

The family-run Bernard Brewery, for example, is today launching its first “sour” non-alcoholic beer, Bernard Free Okurka, made with cucumber brine. “Cucumber brine is an ingredient with extraordinary potential. By adding it, we have created a refreshing drink that will not only help people rise from the dead at Easter, but is also a natural source of minerals and substances beneficial to the human body. It gives the beer health-promoting properties and a completely unique taste,” says brewery spokesperson Radek Tulis, adding that the new product is aimed at everyday consumers, whilst he also sees opportunities in specific situations involving alcohol consumption. “We are also currently testing a version where it is drunk mixed with alcoholic beverages – in such cases, it could directly prevent alcohol overindulgence or exponentially extend the drinker’s stamina,” says the brewery’s sales director, Zdeněk Šípek, who is also intensively testing the cucumber beer on himself and is holding up well so far.

Online supermarket Rohlík announced in a newsletter that it is opening its first brick-and-mortar branches, Rohlík Markets. “We’ve been spoiling you for ten years. Delivery to your kitchen, 15-minute delivery slots, shopping in seconds from your sofa... We realised we’ve deprived you of the most wonderful human experiences. There are those among us who haven’t quite taken to Rohlík yet because they’re missing that real ‘supermarket adrenaline’. That’s why we’ve heeded your pleas to return to our roots. After months of planning, we’re opening the first chain of Rohlík Markets brick-and-mortar stores. For everyone who finally wants to make a bit of an effort for their shopping again,” it writes, listing everything customers can look forward to. For example, queue therapy, a parking battle, a shelf maze, or a cultural interlude at the checkout in the form of “Are you collecting points?”.

Prima, meanwhile, has announced that a trio of its presenters and actors – Libor Bouček, Jakub Prachař and Vojtěch Kotek – are entering the market with their own merchandise under the “Kulivo” brand. Instead of traditional promotion for the programme Máme rádi Česko, the range includes products such as “premium testicle ointment” or an empty “Kulivo Air” box. The creators themselves describe their project as “premium nonsense that works better than any advert.” Even before its official launch, Kulivo is generating organic reach that ordinary promotional posts can only dream of, they point out.

Prague City Tourism has announced that on the first day of April it will travel back in time, and Prague will thus return to the days of the monarchy via the prague.eu website. “We are reintroducing order, elegance and the mandatory waltz step on the way to the office. If this slows you down so much that you don’t manage to see all our sights, don’t despair – most of them are in Stockholm or Vienna anyway,” states the April Fools’ campaign on the prague.eu website.

Just as last year, when on April Fools’ Day Prague ‘handed over’ its prague.eu website to the Moravian capital of Brno for a single day, this year Prague City Tourism is setting its sights on Vienna and paying tribute to their shared history. On April Fools’ Day, the prague.eu website will transform into an invitation to the days of the monarchy and the waltz, offering a glimpse into the Austro-Hungarian era instead of modern-day Prague. It will thus symbolically return to the reign of Franz Joseph I.

Transport operator Regiojet has once again gone to great lengths with this year’s April Fool’s joke, unveiling the first three-storey bus, the so-called Regiojet Trio, on social media, thereby taking travel to a whole new level. “Thanks to a special hydraulic chassis, the Trio can ‘crouch’ under any bridge if necessary, so your safety is assured. The first services on the route are setting off today!” it writes on Facebook.

Sportisimo, meanwhile , is launching a new drive-through service, where you simply order online, drive up and collect your parcel without getting out of the car. The Loyd tea brand has introduced special tea eggs, flavoured with baked lamb.
