Nova Sport and Oneplay expand their rugby coverage, broadcasting the Six Nations and the 2027 World Cup.

Nova Sport and the Oneplay platform will expand their sports offering with broadcasts of key global rugby competitions. In the coming period, they will offer the Six Nations Championship, the English Premiership Rugby league, the new World Rugby Nations Cup project, and the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup.

The highlight of the rugby programme will be the Men's World Cup, which will take place in Australia in 2027. For the first time, the tournament will be played in an expanded format with 24 teams. Nova Sport plans to provide complete television coverage of the entire championship. This means that it will no longer be shown on the Czech Television sports channel.

"Acquiring the rights to major rugby events will enable us to offer viewers long-term and systematic coverage of this sport. The aim is to link the most important national and club competitions into a single programme," said Dušan Mendel, head of TV Nova's sports section.

The first event to appear on the programme will be the Six Nations Championship, which will take place from 5 February to 14 March. The tournament traditionally brings together six European national teams – England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. The broadcasts will be accompanied by commentary and analysis.

The English Premiership Rugby, one of the most watched club competitions in the sport, will also remain part of the offer. Nova Sport will also newly include the World Rugby Nations Cup, an international tournament aimed at expanding the calendar of national team matches.
