68% of Czechs will not miss the upcoming Ice Hockey World Championships.

Over 68% of Czechs aged 18 to 65 plan to watch the matches of this year's Ice Hockey World Championship, which begins on 9 May. Interest in the championship is higher among men (78%), but it is also popular among women. Fifty-nine percent of women surveyed want to watch hockey. Most people will cheer at home, with family or friends. This is according to a survey by Perfect Crowd for Allegro.

Television remains the clear choice for watching hockey, with 82% of respondents saying they will cheer on their teams on TV. Over half of fans admit that a larger or better TV significantly contributes to their viewing experience. A quarter of people are even considering buying new equipment for the championship. A fifth of respondents (21%) will use their mobile phones to watch the matches, while 12% will opt for a projector.

Although the home environment clearly dominates, some fans plan to watch the matches in bars, restaurants or at public screenings. Five percent will even travel to Sweden or Denmark to watch some of the matches in person.

More than 22% of respondents plan to wear jerseys, scarves or flags during the championship. As many as 13% of parents also want to give them to their children, and 4% of fans will not forget their pets. During May, retailers traditionally experience increased demand for this type of merchandise. For just under half (46%), refreshments are an integral part of the hockey experience.
