The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) is launching its activities on the Czech market and is rolling out the very first ‘Seafood from Norway’ advertising campaign here. The initiative also includes investment in market development and collaboration with business partners.
Under the slogan“Eat the best. Be the best”, the Seafood from Norway campaign aims to raise awareness of the origin, quality and nutritional properties of Norwegian salmon. Norwegian international footballer Erling Haaland has been appointed as its ambassador.
The marketing activities will run until December 2026 and will include digital advertising, collaborations with influencers, point-of-sale support and media partnerships. Influencers such as naskokvkuchyni and nehladu will be involved in the campaign. The campaign will also feature product placement in the TV programmes *Prostřeno* and *Showtime*.
Brand promotion will also focus on the retail and e-commerce sectors. The campaign will be visible in Albert stores and on the Rohlik.cz platform.
NSC states that, in addition to marketing support, it aims to expand its cooperation with processors and business partners in the Czech market and to strengthen the fish and seafood category in the long term.
The campaign is also running in some other countries under the same slogan, but has been adapted for the Czech market. Media planning was handled by the PHD agency, whilst PR support was provided by FleishmanHillard.
According to the NSC, the Czech Republic is one of the fastest-growing European markets for Atlantic salmon. Annual consumption stands at approximately 16,400 tonnes, representing a 40 per cent increase over the last three years. Norwegian salmon accounts for roughly 95 per cent of the Czech market for this category of fish.
Although interest in salmon is growing, overall consumption of fish and seafood in the Czech Republic remains below the European average. According to NSC data, Czechs consume an average of 10.4 kilograms of fish and seafood per person per year (the EU average is 25 kg), of which approximately 1.5 kilograms is Atlantic salmon.
“It is therefore a very interesting market for us. The growing economy and consumers’ increasing emphasis on the quality and origin of food are creating scope for further growth in the coming years. We therefore plan to expand our cooperation with local processors and trading partners and invest in the development of the entire category,” said Anders Nordøy Snellingen, NSC’s Director for Central and Eastern Europe.
The aim of NSC’s activities is not only to support growth, but above all to raise awareness of the origin of salmon, its quality and how it can be incorporated into everyday diets. Research has long shown that consumers are increasingly interested in the origin and nutritional benefits of food, as well as how it is produced.
