  • Weekly debates between mayoral and Senate candidates planned.
  • Special programmes and in-depth interviews featured in coverage.
  • Augmented reality will be used for candidate estimates.
  • Election results and analysis will be broadcast live on October 10.
CNN Prima News’ election coverage will feature at least two major debates a week, in-depth interviews and special programmes. The election coverage will culminate in broadcasts over the election weekend and will continue ahead of the second round of the Senate elections.

From 2 September, CNN Prima News will launch special pre-election coverage of the local and Senate elections. Each week, it will feature debates between mayoral and Senate candidates, in-depth interviews and special programmes. The election coverage will culminate in a ‘super-debate’ week and an election hub on election Saturday. The elections will take place on 9 and 10 October 2026.

The pre-election programme will kick off with a special edition of České zájmy v Evropě (Czech Interests in Europe) from Brussels, featuring a studio audience. This will be followed by a special edition of *Partie: One Month to the Elections*. From the second week of September, at least two major debates are planned each week. Mondays will be dedicated to debates between mayoral candidates in selected regional cities, whilst Wednesdays will feature Senate candidates. The programme will also include in-depth interviews with the leaders of parties and movements on the programme K věci.

The pre-election debates will be hosted by Terezie Tománková, Petr Suchoň, Pavlína Wolfová, Petr Převrátil and Lucie Čermáková. Special formats will include, for example, the Superdebate featuring young politicians from Generation Z and a superdebate election week with a studio audience.

Election Saturday will feature live results, analysis and commentary. CNN Prima News also plans to make use of augmented reality for the first time. In collaboration with the Stem agency, it plans to present estimates of individual candidates’ chances of progressing and the possible balance of power in the Senate once the results of the first round of the Senate elections have been tallied. This will be followed by debates between all candidates ahead of the second round.

Election coverage will also be available on the CNNPrima.cz website, which will feature analyses, commentary, infographics and interactive elements. This will include polls and voting via QR codes during broadcasts and on social media.
