The World Cup is delivering record-breaking results for Nova Action. The tournament is also surpassing the viewing figures of the previous World Cup in Qatar.
The most-watched match of the World Cup so far on Nova Action was the semi-final between France and Spain. The match was watched by 826,000 viewers aged four and over, and achieved a 40.3 per cent audience share in the 15–54 commercial target group . According to Nova, this is the most-watched programme in the history of Nova Action.
Other matches in the knockout stages of the tournament also attracted strong interest. The round of 16 clash between Spain and Portugal was watched by 588,000 viewers, whilst theArgentina v Egypt match drew 456,000 viewers. The matches between England and Croatia, and Brazil and Japan, also attracted over 350,000 viewers.
According to Nova’s data, this year’s tournament is performing significantly better than the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The average share for matches broadcast on Nova Action in the 15–54 age group stands at 17.7 per cent, compared with 9.2 per cent four years ago.
“The tournament so far confirms that Nova Action is a strong channel for major football events. We are delighted not only by the excellent viewing figures for the top matches, but also by how well the tournament is performing among the 15–54 age group,” said Dušan Mendel, Head of Nova Sport.
In terms of viewing figures, Portugal, Spain, Argentina and France are among the most popular teams in the tournament. According to Nova, England is achieving above-average results, particularly within the commercial target audience.
In addition to the matches themselves, the broadcasts also feature pre-match and post-match studio programmes. Guests appearing on these programmes during the tournament have included, for example, former international footballer Petr Čech, Rudolf Skácel, Marek Suchý, singer Marek Ztracený, ice hockey player Filip Chytil, actor Martin Stránský and Dr Vševěd from the programme *Na lovu*.
The tournament is now entering its final phase. Nova Action will broadcast the third-place play-off on Saturday and the final on Sunday, which will bring the championship to a close. Both of these matches will also be broadcast by ČT sport.
