Since Wednesday, 5 November, the thematic programme Nova Cinema has been available not only in the Czech Radio network, but also with the Digital Broadcasting operator. The media group Nova already distributes all its free-to-air channels here.
Digital Broadcasting, the operator of the 24 multiplex nationwide broadcasting network, started testing the nationwide distribution of the Nova Cinema TV programme on Wednesday 5 November. Czech Radiocommunications (CRA) has thus lost its competitive advantage over Digital Broadcasting, which did not offer Nova Cinema until now. The operator describes this broadcast as a test broadcast for the time being, with "emphasis on increased subtitle quality for the deaf". In the future, however, it may signal an intention to complete the Nova Group's programming offer on the operator's multiplex 24 network. Multiplex 24 currently distributes the following full-screen television programmes of the Nova Group: Nova, Nova Action, Nova Fun, Nova Krimi, Nova Lady and now Nova Cinema.
In recent years, Digital Broadcasting has worked on densifying its coverage and has expanded into areas such as Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, Ústecko ( Kukla transmitter) and Hutisko. Other network customers include Paramount Network, the currently non-broadcasting OK TV, Šláger channels and JOJ Family. Recall that in Slovakia the media group Markíza, which like Nova is owned by CME, distributes its programmes in encrypted form.
According to Josef Uher, TV Nova's technical director, this is part of a longer-term strategy to improve the viewer experience. "Our goal is to constantly improve the viewer experience, not only in terms of content but also in terms of technical aspects," Uher says. Within terrestrial broadcasting, all programmes of the Nova media group are distributed in standard definition, 960x540p image format. In pay services, these stations are available in HD format.
Broadcasting network No. 24 - Multiplex 24, with 97.8% of the country's population covered, can now be tuned in by more than 10 million TV viewers in the Czech Republic. In the new DVB-T2-HEVC terrestrial television broadcasting standard, Multiplex 24 is the only full-screen network in the Czech Republic to broadcast separate regional broadcasts in the capital and in each individual region.
