Oneplay is changing the rewind options for Prima Group channels. However, it will only be possible to skip some of the adverts, as ad blocks remain protected.
The Oneplay platform is rolling out a change to fast-forwarding on Prima Group channels starting Thursday. It will now be possible to fast-forward and pick up where you left off. Advertising blocks remain protected, but in some cases they can be partially skipped. When starting a recording of an older programme, the first minute can be rewound without restriction, and only then do the rules for advertising apply.
"One of the advantages of the Oneplay platform, which viewers have long appreciated on O2 TV, is the ability to rewind content. We have now managed to implement this feature on all Prima channels. At the same time, we are protecting advertising blocks, which are important for financing the content broadcast on Prima. It's a balanced compromise: viewers have greater convenience, while the value for advertisers is maintained,‘ said Dana Tomášková, Director of Digital Services and Oneplay at O2.
Restrictions on rewinding ads in catch-up viewing introduced by the Prima group three years ago. It justified this by the need to prevent the leakage of advertising GRPs, which are key to advertising sales and television financing. As a result, it was not possible to fast-forward programmes in advance.
