Oneplay is preparing another story based on real events. In a series with the working title Stoupenkyně, it will focus on the so-called Kutná Hora case.
Oneplay is preparing a six-part series with the working title Stoupenkyně. It is based on the well-known Kutná Hora case. At the centre of the story is the fate of a family that was affected by the manipulations of self-proclaimed guru Richard Šiffer. It tells a story of forgiveness, family ties and the possibility of finding a way back. At the same time, it raises the question of how to help a loved one who has lost their way in a world of conspiracy theories and delusions.
According to the creators, the story will be told from the perspective of the victims and family members who are trying to understand what happened to their loved one. The screenplay was written by Miro Šifra, and the creators of the podcast series Stoupenci, produced by Český rozhlas, which won the Prix Bohemia Radio 2025 award for best podcast of the year, are also involved in the project.
"For me as an author, it is crucial to understand the perspective of the people directly affected by this story. Without the trust of the family, I would never have dared to tell such an intimate story," says screenwriter Miro Šifra, adding: "There is a lot of media simplification surrounding the Kutná Hora case, which I consider unfair to the real victims. Yet losing touch with reality is surprisingly easy in today's world, and it has dire consequences."
The project also includes the creation of an organisation to help victims of sects and extremist religious or spiritual movements. It is being founded with the support of TV Nova by the children of one of the direct participants in the case. The aim of the initiative is to provide support to families in similar situations and to raise awareness about manipulative groups.
In addition to Miro Šifra, screenwriter Tereza Oľhová is also involved in the series. The producers are Matěj Chlupáček and Maja Hamplová from Barletta. Tereza Kopáčová and Adam Martinec will direct. Michal Reitler and Michal Prokeš are the creative producers of the Oneplay platform.
Richard Šiffer died on the night of 4 October 2022. Two women – a dentist and a former university lecturer – were charged in connection with his death. The children of the second accused have long expressed their belief that their mother was incapable of intentional violence and are trying to understand the circumstances of the case.
