The Nova media group willonceagain be broadcasting the football championship toviewers in high definition via terrestrial television after a four-year hiatus. The operator of the nationwide DVB-T2 multiplex 24 has therefore, in the last few hours, temporarily switched the Nova Action channel to full HD format.
This adjustment to the broadcast parameters will allow viewers of free-to-air terrestrial television to watch sports broadcasts in the highest possible quality without having to pay for cable or satellite services. The move coincides with the start of the World Cup, which is taking place in the USA, Canada and Mexico, where a total of 48 national teams will be competing for the first time.
The Nova Group holds sub-licenced broadcasting rights, enabling it to offer fans more than fifty live broadcasts, which will be shown on the free-to-air Nova Action channel. Alongside this channel, Czech Television will also broadcast key matches on its sports channel. From 26 June, several matches will also be shown on TV Nova. On that day, this will specifically be the match between Japan and Sweden.
The higher picture resolution on Nova Action will remain active for the entire duration of the tournament, i.e. until the final, which is scheduled for 19 July. After that, the technical parameters of this nationwide channel will revert to the original standard format, as higher picture quality is only available on Nova for paid services.
