Less than half of students over the age of 18 believe that Czech media are trustworthy, while 10% hold the opposite view, according to a survey by GTS Alive, published by ISIC.
Czech media are trustworthy in the eyes of only 40% of Czech students over the age of 18, with 10% holding the opposite view and almost half of students leaning towards neither of these extremes. This is shown by a recent survey of 1,031 students conducted in early June by GTS Alive, which issues ISIC student cards.
Students most often obtain information about domestic politics from two sources: online news media and social networks, or online videos. Television ranks third, followed by relatives and friends, as well as podcasts.
Specifically, students mentioned major news sites among the online media they follow regularly, but also smaller sites specializing in young people. ČT24 was also frequently mentioned, not only as a live broadcast, but also for its social media profiles and website. CNN Prima News was also mentioned relatively often.
Social media also plays a huge role in news consumption. The most frequently mentioned were Instagram, YouTube, and X. Students interested in politics often follow news profiles or directly political commentators and influencers on these platforms. Many students follow one or more podcasts on political topics. Many respondents cited multiple sources, often combining traditional online media with new digital platforms.
