RICHARD BURNLEY, EBU’S DIRECTOR OF LEGAL AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS, WILL BE A GUEST AT THE DIGIMEDIA CONFERENCE

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which brings together public service television and radio broadcasters, will give its views on the funding of these media and the use of artificial intelligence in media content creation at the Digimedia 2024 conference, with Richard Burnley, EBU Director of Legal Affairs and Regulation.

He will sit on a joint panel with Jan Souček, Director General of Czech Television, René Zavoral, Director General of Czech Radio, and Klara Brachtlova, President of the Association of Commercial Television. The conference will take place on Thursday 13 June 2024 in the Congress Hall of Czech Television in Prague, Kavčí Hory.

Richard Burnley has been with the EBU since 2010 and was appointed Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs in 2012, taking on the role of Director since 1 July 2016. Prior to joining the EBU, Richard Burnley was Senior Legal Adviser at the Office of Communications (the UK's media and telecoms regulator) and before that he was a member of the EU and Competition Department of a global law firm in Brussels and London. He has also worked at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition.

Richard Burnley studied law at King's College, London University and Humboldt University in Berlin. He holds a doctorate in EU law from the European University Institute in Florence.
