PROFITABLE EVEN IN A PANDEMIC. NOVA BOASTS RESULTS AND PREPARES NEWS

9. 6. 2021
The Nova TV group experienced a turbulent year. In the autumn, it was acquired by PPF, and similar to other media houses, it had to face pandemic shocks in the advertising market.

Despite a slight decrease in sales, Nova managed to be profitable and even increase its profits. “Despite the challenging period, we managed to close the year with a slight decline in sales of four percent to approximately CZK 5.3 billion,” says the CEO and statutory director of TV Nova, Klára Brachtlová. “The net profit matched our results reported for 2019, we are talking about approximately CZK 860 million,” she adds. The figures were confirmed by the group’s annual report that was filed with the commercial register on Tuesday. In 2019, the group recognised sales of CZK 5.5 billion and a profit of CZK 810 million. “If I take it from the point of market demand, the market was shocked by the covid spread. It slumped radically by tens of percent. Any media type suffered significantly but TV had probably the best results,” said Jan Vlček. In his opinion, the market normalised last summer and the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel shone. “Today we can see that clients are planning again,” adds Vlček. That is why Barrandov is bustling with many great plans again these days. Last year, the pandemic also limited their original production, which is expected to rise significantly this year.

Nova has increased investments in its own production by thirty percent and prepared new shows, such as the new TV series Pan profesor starring Vojtěch Dyk or the quiz show The Chase.

But this is not a complete list of news. “We are preparing a huge surprise,” informs Brachtlová.
