Prima Krimi SK can begin broadcasting on the Slovak market, and Czech viewers can look forward to the documentary channel Joj Svět. Two other new MD channels, Oneplay Sport, also have licenses.

The Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting (RRTV) approved several new licenses for television broadcasting at its last meeting. The decisions concern both satellite and cable broadcasting.

Prima Krimi SK

FTV Prima has obtained a license to operate a new thematic program, Prima Krimi SK, which will be broadcast via the Astra 23.5°E satellite. The broadcast will be in Czech and will be aimed primarily at Slovakia. The channel will be available 16 to 24 hours a day. As Prima Group CEO Marek Singer told MediaGuru.cz , Prima's Slovak subsidiary Prima Krimi will begin broadcasting on September 1, 2025, adding to Prima's existing channels for the Slovak market, namely Prima SK, Prima Cool SK and Prima Love SK.

At the same time, the RRTV extended the license for the existing Slovak version of the program Prima SK for another 12 years, until December 12, 2040.

JOJ Svět

A new satellite broadcasting license has also been granted to Československá filmová společnost, which plans to launch the documentary channel JOJ Svět on the Czech market. It will be available 24 hours a day and will focus on documentary productions. It will also broadcast via the Astra 23.5°E satellite in Czech and will be intended exclusively for Czech viewers.

Oneplay Sport adds MD7 and MD8 channels

Two new licenses have also been obtained by O2 TV, which is planning to expand its sports offering under the Oneplay Sport brand. The new Oneplay Sport MD7 and Oneplay Sport MD8 channels will be available via cable systems and will broadcast irregularly, depending on specific sporting events. Both channels will be intended for the Czech Republic and broadcast in Czech.
