FAMU CELEBRATES 80 YEARS. SPECIAL EVENTS WILL MARK THE ANNIVERSARY
13. 1. 2026 | 4 min read In 2026, the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) will celebrate 80 years since its founding. One of the oldest film schools in the world, it has prepared a programme of screenings, discussions, distribution activities and multimedia events to mark this significant anniversary, mapping its history and current work across disciplines and generations. A rich past and continuity "Eighty years of FAMU is a reminder of our rich past, but also a confirmation of the living continuity of our school, which is constantly changing along with the world around us. Across decades and historical contexts, FAMU has managed to maintain its role as a place that offers students a base for free creative thinking and the search for new artistic expressions. I am glad that today it is also a place where students and teachers can openly connect with the world," says FAMU Dean David Čeněk.
